Projects involving six researchers form The University of Western Australia have been successful in receiving support from the Australian and Learning Teaching Council's final round of funding.

Winthrop Professors Tom O'Donoghue and Anne Chapman received a grant to engage academics in the application of a set of quality assurance principles for teaching and learning in Australian university offshore programs.

The collaborative project involving UWA, Curtin University, University of Adelaide and University of Victoria involves the trial and evaluation of previously developed principles in ten Australian university programs delivered in Southeast Asia.  

Acting Director of the Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families' Dr Susan Young received funding for her work on Indigenising Australian Social Work Education. A collaboration between Australian Catholic University, Curtin University, NSW Health and UWA, the project aims to better prepare social work graduates to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a range of contexts in the human services and has the potential to attract and retain more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to social work.

UWA Honorary Research Fellow in English and Cultural Studies Dr Hila Shachar is contributing to a collaborative project lead by the University of Tasmania with researchers from Monash University and University of Queensland. It aims to advance education through the study of adaptation between the disciplines of English, Media, Film and Television, Communication and Cultural Studies, Modern Language and Theatre Studies.

Anatomy and human biology Professor Geoff Meyer's project is looking at the changing focus from microscopy to 3D reconstructions and animations in the teaching and learning of histology.  

And Professor Phil Hancock from the UWA Business School has received ALTC funding to look at external peer review of accounting learning and teaching academic standards.
