Winthrop Professor Phillip Dolan has officially taken up the position of Dean at The University of Western Australia Business School .

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Robson welcomed Professor Dolan and said the University looked forward to working with Professor Dolan to build on the excellent foundation established under outgoing Dean, Winthrop Professor Tracey Horton.

‘UWA Business School is a nationwide leader in business teaching and research.  Our University welcomes Professor Dolan and looks forward to him building on the Business School's close relationships with business, industry and government which have attracted a strong Board of significant WA business leaders,' he said.

Professor Dolan said he was looking forward to taking on the leadership role at the UWA Business School.

‘The UWA Business School has strong, lasting relationships with our corporate partners and has recently been awarded AACSB accreditation and EQUIS re-accreditation,' said Professor Dolan. ‘These strong foundations will ensure our position as a leading business school in the Asia-Pacific region as we embrace the exciting opportunities associated with our transition to the new undergraduate course structure in 2012.

‘It is an exciting time for the School and I am looking forward to the challenge.'

Professor Dolan's career spans more than three decades working in financial services and academia. His previous roles have included Director of the Applied Finance Centre and Head of Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies at Macquarie University; Director, Centre for Studies in Money, Banking and Finance; and senior roles at Macquarie Bank including Associate Director, Research and Development in the Asset Management Division, and Division Director, Investment Research in the Funds Management Division.

Professor Dolan completed his PhD at Stanford University, winning numerous honours and prizes throughout his studies and career.  He is a Senior Fellow, Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a Member of its Policy Advisory Committee; Member and Graduate, Australian Institute of Company Directors; and Member, International Association of Financial Engineers.

He holds a BA from Macquarie University, MBA from the University of New South Wales, and PhD from Stanford University.
