Enes Kaya, 19, found himself confronted with a terrifying scene at Oats Street train station in May last year. Standing on the platform he saw 23-year-old Anthony Moore, who has been blind since birth, mistake the gap between train carriages for the open door and fall onto the tracks.
Without hesitating, Mr. Kaya raced to Mr. Moore’s aid, fearing that the train driver had not seen him fall and that the train would very shortly move away from the station. Mr. Kaya was able to pull Mr. Moore back up on to the platform just before the train started to move, saving his life.
Mr. Kaya will today be awarded a Commendation for Brave Conduct by the Federal Government.
