Simon Katich gives some bowling tips
Thursday, 30 June 2011

Australian cricketer and UWA ambassador Simon Katich paid a visit to the University in April and was pleasantly surprised with what he saw.

A UWA commerce graduate who now lives in Sydney, Simon was particularly impressed with the new Business School. After touring the building which was opened in 2009, Simon was amazed at the modern facilities.

Simon took some time out during the day to conduct a coaching session with the University's South Asian cricket team. The team is made up of UWA students from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and competes in a local competition. Team captain Harman Dillon was excited by the opportunity to have a coaching session with a player who has achieved so much internationally.

"The whole team had a great time and I am sure his tips will help the players immensely," Harman said.

Simon Katich graduated from UWA in 1997 with a Bachelor of Commerce.  To date he has played 56 test matches and 45 one-day internationals in a career that spans 2001 to 2011.  He represented Western Australia from 1997 – 2002. He moved to Sydney to represent New South Wales and he is the captain of the New South Wales team.
