The University of Western Australia Business School is delighted to announce that from 2012, BDO will begin offering scholarships to undergraduate accounting and finance students at UWA.

Each year, one scholarship will be awarded to cover the second and third year tuition costs of a high achieving student studying accounting and/or finance at UWA.

The BDO Undergraduate Scholarship in the UWA Business School will be awarded to a student who is able to demonstrate a strong academic record and leadership potential.

‘We're extremely excited to be partnering with BDO,' said Winthrop Professor Tracey Horton, Dean, UWA Business School. ‘We have recently  gained another four highly respected academic staff in the Accounting & Finance discipline, and our partnership with BDO - the fifth largest audit, tax and advisory firm in the world - will ensure that our students continue to be exposed to the best theory and practice in the field.'

BDO's sponsorship of the UWA Business School, through its support of the BDO Undergraduate Scholarships, is valued at $100,000 over five years. This will make BDO a Supporting Partner of the UWA Business School.

‘This scholarship not only offers BDO an opportunity to partner with a renowned educational institution such as UWA but also to make an investment in the talent and growth of the accounting industry,' said Vin Brown, CEO of BDO in WA. ‘We are thrilled that we will be contributing to the development of emerging business leaders in Western Australia.'

The University of Western Australia Business School is home to more than 5,700 students. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and is the only business school in Western Australia to be accredited by EQUIS.

BDO employs more than 47,000 people across 1,082 offices in over 110 countries, and in 2010 had a worldwide revenue of $5.284 billion.
