Football

At the recent interfaculty football competition, the School of Indigenous Studies (SIS) was one of the many faculties which played off for the title of champions.

In the first game, SIS lost to Engineering but fought back in the quarters and semi finals to beat Law, then Human Movement and ended up meeting Engineering again  in the finals, winning very comfortably despite some early players not being able to participate because of major injury: Luke Davies' broken arm and Tom Forrest's split head. Not the first time that SIS has won this award - but certainly the biggest margin.

Back row:  (L - R) Jordan Ah Chee, Dylan Collard, Charles Mallard, Tom Forrest, Kamsani Bin Salleh, Devyn Jackamarra, Matt Lelievre,  Ronald Bin Swani and Rhonen Maher
Front Row: (L- R) Joshua Kitaura, Ian Garlett, Cameron Howard, Harley Johnston

Not pictured but also in the winning team: Scott Wilson, Luke Davies and Kevin Taylor.

Soccer

Not be outdone, the women also won the interfaculty soccer some week prior to this - a first!   Meeting Law in the semi finals, the SIS women won in a penalty shootout to meet and beat Engineering in the Grand final.  Another first - it is the first time Indigenous women have won an interfaculty championship.

Team members included Ashleigh Ah Chee, Caitlin Smith, Samantha Shepherd, Danni Headland, Vinka Cummins-Barunga, Jedda Hill and Casey Kickett.
