Almost 200 university staff participated in the UWA Bike Breakfast in March, by swapping four wheels for two and riding to work.

The event, hosted by UWA Sport and Recreation to coincide with WA's Bike Week, rewarded staff who rode to work with a scrumptious breakfast at the University Club .

As well as keeping participants fit and healthy and reducing traffic congestion, the event saved a considerable amount of carbon emissions.

UWA's Sustainable Development Project Manager, Gordon Walsh said that by riding to work rather than driving, the participants saved about 690kg of carbon emissions in just one day.

"Riding a bicycle to work is a great way to reduce your environmental impact, while keeping fit, reducing strain on infrastructure and saving pennies too," he said.

Congratulations to UWA Sport and Recreation for an enjoyable and well-hosted event.
