The Vice-President of Indonesia, His Excellency Professor Dr Boediono will be awarded an honorary doctorate from The University of Western Australia at a special ceremony to be held in Winthrop Hall on Thursday evening.

Professor Dr Boediono is visiting Perth at the invitation of the University, from where he graduated with an economics degree in 1967.

Professor Dr Boediono will deliver an address after being awarded a UWA Honorary Degree of Doctor of Economics.

Later, Professor Dr Boediono will be the guest speaker at a dinner for the forum In the Zone:  The geography of global prosperity.

The Perth-based In the Zone series - established by The University of Western Australia in 2009 - aims to engage national and international leaders in a foreign policy and economic dialogue.

The inaugural In the Zone conference in 2009 attracted senior representatives from governments, the private sector and academia, and a number of respected national and international speakers from China, Japan, India, South East Asia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Media wishing to attend the Honorary Doctorate ceremony to be addressed by Professor Dr Boediono must register and be at Winthrop Hall at 5.30pm on Thursday 10 March.  The ceremony will be completed by 7pm.
