The University of Western Australia is at the forefront of forensic research in the Asia/Pacific region, particularly in the disciplines of entomology, anthropology, human and animal DNA profiling, chemical gold and diamond fingerprinting, and food forensics.

In October, forensic research at UWA took another step forward when the new Centre for Forensic Science was opened by Bill Marmion, State Minister for Environment; Water (previously Minister for Commerce; Science and Innovation; Housing).

The new Myer Street laboratories, for the first time, consolidate under one roof all the expertise at UWA for the study of Forensic and Analytical Chemistry, Forensic Anthropology and Archaeology and Forensic Biology.
