Internationally renowned values expert Dr Mary Gentile, director of the Giving Voice to Values curriculum at Babson College, will visit The University of Western Australia Business School in mid-February.

As part of her visit, Dr Gentile will deliver a free public lecture on Monday, 21 February, titled ‘Giving Voice to Values: The "How" of Business Ethics.'

Dr Gentile's visit is part of UWA Business School's Visiting Professor Program, and is supported by demèter wealth management, the newest member of UWA Business School's Corporate Circle.

‘We're looking forward to Dr Gentile's visit enormously,' said Gerri Scott-Velie, Principal of demèter wealth management. ‘While the business community often talks about ethical business practices, Dr Gentile goes a step further by offering advice, practical exercises, and scripts for handling a wide range of ethical dilemmas.'

In Giving Voice to Values, Dr Gentile draws on business experiences and social science research to offer advice, practical exercises, and scripts for handling a wide range of ethical dilemmas. The curriculum focuses on ethical implementation and asks: "What if I were going to act on my values? What would I say and do? How could I be most effective?"

The approach and materials have been piloted at more than 100 institutions on six continents, and have also been featured in Harvard Business Review, Financial Times, New York Times and BusinessWeek.

Giving Voice to Values was launched by The Aspen Institute and Yale School of Management, with ongoing support from Babson College.

This will be Dr Gentile's second visit to UWA Business School, following a successful visit in late 2009.
