Laurentia McKessar is ranked as the top law graduate in 2010. She was the recipient of a number of prizes including the Hackett Foundation Alumni Honours scholarship and the Mallesons Stephen Jaques Prize for the best honours dissertation in 2009.

Laurentia says that "studying law at UWA has been an immensely enjoyable experience.  My lecturers and tutors have been first-rate, fostering intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellence.  Sharing various trials and tribulations with my peers contributed to my learning through which I have made many lasting friendships."

"All of my lecturers have been great mentors on the journey through law school with their contagious passion for their subject matters.  I am particularly grateful to those who ignited my interest in constitutional law: my honours supervisor Dr Jim Thomson, Mr Richard Hooker and Ms Sarah Murray.  My family deserve a special mention for their unfailing support."

Laurentia studied part-time while working at the State Solicitor's Office, in 2008 as a Professional Legal Research Assistant to the WA State Solicitor and 2009-10 as the Professional Legal Research Assistant to the WA Solicitor General. In 2011 she will be working as Associate to Chief Justice French.

While studying, Laurentia was also involved with extracurricular activities including UWA sports clubs, student guild societies and law student society competitions and publications.
