UWA Publishing title, "It's Still In My Heart, This Is My Country:" The Single Noongar Claim History, has been shortlisted for the 2010 Human Rights Award in literature.

The book presents substantial evidence detailing the history, customs and laws of the Noongar people, their relationship to their land, their rights and interests, and their survival against great odds - from colonization to the present day.

Human Rights Commission President Catherine Branson QC, said the shortlists were judged from more than 200 high-quality entries nominated from around Australia.

"If the shortlists are anything to go by, Australia has seen a very dedicated and active group of human rights activists this year," Ms Branson said.

"This book highlights the importance of social commentary within the literary sphere," UWAP Director Terri-ann White said.
