Two groups of 4th year UWA planning students were recognised with an award and special commendation by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA WA) in the annual Awards for Planning Excellence in the Student Category for their Outline Concept Master Plan projects on Northbridge Central undertaken as part of the Planning theory and Practice unit .

“Northbridge Central Redevelopment Consultancy” a group that comprised the following students -  James Parker, Trent Will, Jane Downsborough, Danni Briggs, Steve Martin and Ben Swanson - won the overall award in the Student Category.

“Masterpiece Planning”, comprising of Adrian Cagnana, Sian Morgan, Katherine Shirley, Adriana Eve and Amy-Grace Douglas,  received a special commendation for their master plan project.

Northbridge Central Redevelopment Consultancy’s winning project is now in the running for the 2011 Planning Institute of Australia National Award to be presented the National Awards Ceremony.  Having only commenced in 2007, the UWA urban and regional planning programme recognises this important milestone and continues to support the group's bid in the national competition.
