Four  members of the UWA Oceans Institute staff are recipients of  UWA Research Development Awards for 2011.

Monica Gagliano, Ryan Lowe, Ivan Haigh and Christine Hanson recieved the awards announced last month.

Monica Gagliano from the School of  Animal Biology recieved a grant of  $29,578.00 for her project "Rainbowfish: Cost of Living and Ageing in the Far West".

Ryan Lowe from the School of Earth and Environment for his project "The Role of Ocean Dynamics on Seagrass Seed Dispersal along Western Australia" was awarded $20,820.00.

Ivan Haigh from the School of Environmental Systems Engineering received $25,940.00 for his work on "Storm surge propagation and coastal flooding in the Peel Harvey Estuary".

Christine  Hanson from the School of Environmental Systems Engineering researching "Dense Shelf Water Cascades off Southwestern Australia: their Impact on Phytoplankton Nutrient Dynamics and Community Composition" received  $29,770.00
