UWA offers a range of scholarships and awards for students. These are not only available to students who have an outstanding academic record but they also recognise achievements across a number of areas including involvement in extra-curricular activities such as sport and music, as well as charity, volunteer and community work.

Our University is committed to making education equitable and accessible for all students and there are a range of scholarships and awards to support students.

Scholarship and Awards include:

  • non-English speaking and/or low socio-economic backgrounds
  • Indigenous students
  • students with a disability
  • mature-age students
  • rural students
  • students who arrived in Australia on a humanitarian visa
  • females studying in a non-traditional discipline

This year, Hansen Amann, from St Joseph's College Albany, received a Diversity and Merit Award to study Architecture at UWA.

When asked about the award he received, Hansen said, "The transition from rural life to uni life was a challenge for myself and my family. As the time drew closer it became clear to me just how expensive it was going to be to move.

"Being awarded the Diversity and Merit Award in 2010 has made my move to Perth so much easier (for everyone), however, it is not until now, when I am half way through my first year at uni that I have come to really appreciate the value of the award.

"This award has not only been beneficial financially but has given me the confidence to pursue my educational endeavours. The privilege of receiving this award really took the pressure off the beginning of my life at uni and I urge any eligible students to take advantage of this amazing opportunity."

The new information brochure about UWA Scholarships and Awards will be posted to your school in August. Closing dates for applications vary depending on the award or scholarship, so be sure to check the UWA Scholarships website for more information.
