Planning is well underway for the new UWA Albany Sciences Building. The University of Western Australia facility will provide much needed teaching and laboratory space for research staff and students.

“UWA is committed to providing access to higher education teaching, research and cultural activities in the Albany region. This modern facility will be a great boost for regional students and the community,” said Acting UWA Albany Centre Director, Jenni Flottmann.

“The equipment planned will enable the Centre of Excellence in Natural Resource Management staff and research students to undertake more varied research with facilities equal to those at the main campus of UWA in Perth,” commented CENRM Director Peter Davies.

The development will also enable the Rural Clinical School of WA to expand, allowing budding doctors to gain valuable experience rural medicine.

“This new building will enhance our activities in the Great Southern,” said Winthrop Professor Geoff Riley, Head of the RCSWA.

A public information session, planned for Wednesday 28 July, will provide an excellent opportunity for all those who are interested to see the plans first hand. Architect David Heaver, along with UWA Albany staff, will be available to answer any queries and provide further information.
