Some of The University of Western Australia's top scientists challenged the myths and misconceptions about climate change at a forum at the University last night.

Speakers highlighted the scientific consensus about our warming planet, the perils of ignoring this consensus, the fallacies associated with "junk science" and approaches to clean energy.

Speakers include:

  • Fellow of the Royal Society, Premier's Research Fellow and coral reef expert, Professor Malcolm McCulloch
  • Australian Professorial Fellow Professor Stephan Lewandowsky, from UWA's School of Psychology
  • Professor Kevin Judd from UWA's School of Mathematics and Statistics and
  • Dr Volker Oschmann, a senior German government official currently doing research at UWA's Centre for Mining, Energy and Natural Resources Law.

Professor Lewandowsky said it was important for the climate change debate to be informed by valid climate science .
