Students from The University of Western Australia have again proved they are the fastest stair climbers, winning yesterday's Step Up for MS Stair Climb.More than 630 people and 133 teams registered for the annual challenge, which involves climbing 53 flights or 1096 stairs to the top of Perth's tallest building, the Central Park office tower.

The UWA team was led by Neil Berry, of East Perth, who won the event for the second consecutive year, recording the overall fastest time of 6:55 minutes. Not far behind him were UWA teammates Tom Bruins, of Greenwood, who finished third in 7:08 minutes, Ben Green, of Duncraig, who was fifth in 7:29 and Sam Maxwell, of Daglish, who was 11 th in 7:59.

Sam was 2009 UWA Sports Council president, 2009 UWA Australian University Games team captain and 2009 Half Blue recipient while Ben Green was awarded a UWA Sports Scholarship in 2008 and 2009.

With a combined time of 29:33 minutes, the UWA team won the overall event, beating their nearest competitors by 15 minutes.

This year's event has already raised more than $130,000 for the thousands of Western Australians living with MS.
