The Perth International Arts Festival is delighted to announce the appointment of Madeline Bates to the highly sought-after role of Program Manager:  Film.

Madeline comes to the Festival from the Edinburgh International Film Festival, where she is currently head of screenings for the 2010 festival.  Her career in film has included a variety of roles in the industry.  She has developed ideas with documentary filmmakers before helping them to secure project funding and was marketplace coordinator on the Sheffield International Documentary Festival.

Madeline holds a Master's degree in Visual Anthropology from Oxford University as well as a Master of Arts from the University of Edinburgh.

Perth Festival general manager Julian Donaldson said: "Madeline brings broad industry experience, imagination and a passion for film.  This appointment ensures the iconic Lotterywest Festival Films will continue to delight our loyal audience while fostering innovation in film within the broader Festival program."

Madeline will join the Perth Festival team in August.
