New Courses 2012 : information leaflets and website

    • The University is producing a series of information leaflets on the New Courses 2012 . These leaflets cover a range of topics including FAQs, international student matters, and professional postgraduate courses. They will be distributed to all staff and through local and international future student n etworks in early April, coinciding with the launch of the new website.
    • The New Courses 2012 website will be available on all UWA servers after Easter. It is the primary source of information on the new framework for all future students, UWA staff and the wider community. In addition to new, externally-focused information, the website will incorporate content from the Future Framework site. It will become an important tool for communicating with stakeholders as we progress through the implementation process.
    • As additional internal and external communication tools and activities are developed around the University, the central point of contact to ensure consistency of information is Public Affairs. Any feedback or questions on this topic should be directed to Rachel Schmitt .

Undergraduate majors for new courses: development and decision process

    • We are midway through a two-phase course development process for the new undergraduate degrees.
    • The Interim Boards of Studies (IBoS) provided feedback in February on each of the draft concept plans (Phase 1) for proposed majors.
    • In addition to the IBoS meetings there have also been numerous informal discussions regarding particular submissions.
    • The 81 majors initially proposed have been reduced to 66, of which 8 are for the BCom, 3 for the BDesign, 25 for the BA and 30 for the BSc.
    • The detailed Faculty-approved Phase 2 proposals, to be lodged on the new Callista Approval and Publishing System (CAPS), are due in the period 27 April - 3 May, along with proposals for Honours and for individual units within and outside majors.
    • IBoS reports on the Phase 2 submissions will be completed in June-July, and subsequently considered by the Board of Coursework Studies and Academic Council.
