The Australian Synchrotron , in conjunction with ANZAAS (The Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science), will be hosting the annual Winter School on Synchrotron Radiation Science from 12-15 July, 2010. The school aims to assist early career researchers to develop an understanding of synchrotron radiation science and its applicability to a vast range of fields of scientific research.

Over this 4-day course participants will be provided with an overview of synchrotron radiation science and its applications by world-leading experts. In addition, students will be provided with a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge synchrotron science techniques for themselves - each student will be provided access to the Australian Synchrotron beamline of their choice to practice the techniques that may be of relevance to their research. This is an opportunity for early career researchers to enhance their existing skills and further their research careers.

Applications are open to students currently enrolled in an Honours program (or equivalent), or undertaking their first year Masters or PhD course in Australia or New Zealand. Students who are interested in attending the school must complete an online application and should attach a copy of their academic transcript (undergraduate to current) and a letter of recommendation from their principal academic supervisor.
