In-house designer at UWA Publishing, Anna Maley-Fadgyas, has made the shortlist for this year's Australian Publishing Association's Book Design Awards.

Anna was shortlisted in the general illustrated book category for her overall design of the book Boomtown 2050: Scenarios for a Rapidly Growing City.

Written by UWA Winthrop Professor of Landscape Architecture, Richard Weller, Boomtown: 2050 is a detailed exploration into the future of Perth. The most isolated city in the world has been predicted to almost triple its population numbers by the year 2050 and Professor Weller, along with many other industry professionals, looks at how the city can plan and provide for the population spike.

Director of UWA Publishing, Terri-ann White said she was delighted with the shortlisting.

"It showcases the high quality of work being done here at UWA Publishing," she said.

UWA Publishing won the best book cover design award last year with the cover for Martin Harrison's collection of poetry, Wild Bees: New and Selected Poems .

The Australian Publishing Association's Book Design Awards will be announced on May 20 in Sydney, during the Sydney Writers' festival.
