The Faculty has decided to move forward with changes to its professional staff structure as part of the One Faculty, One Future project. This will see the development of an outstanding level of service to the Faculty, University and external community that is consistent across the Faculty.

Under the changes to the professional staff structure, professional staff will be organised into functional teams rather than in organisational based teams (e.g. schools). Each of the new functional teams will be responsible for delivering high level services in that area across the Faculty. The new structure will be in place for the start of 2010, however implementation planning and process re-engineering will begin before the end of the year and continue into the early months of 2010.

Details on the new structure are available on the One Faculty, One Future website. This includes an overview organisational chart outlining the new functional teams, as well as documentation relating to the changes.

The Dean of the Faculty, Winthrop Professor David Smith, said of the change "This is one step towards making the Faculty a vibrant, innovative and successful place. The new structure will allow us to perform critical tasks that haven't been done before, whilst providing consistently high level service to all members of the Faculty. It will also allow us to attract and retain the best staff, by providing an exciting career structure and development opportunities."

As part of the ongoing dissemination of information, the Faculty is also holding a series of weekly information sessions on the implementation of the professional staff structure , which will provide all staff with the opportunity to receive an update and ask questions on the implementation process.

In line with the process outlined to staff, the Faculty is currently in the process of offering transfers to staff into their new positions, as well as advertising vacancies.

Questions about the professional staff changes can be directed to either Paula Langley , Faculty General Manager, or Stuart Broadfoot , Manager, Special Projects.
