Even though there are only two successful NHMRC grants, the total funding for them is about $2.1M, which represents about 35% of the total ARC Discovery Project and ARC Linkage grant income from 15 grants ($5,8M).
In other words, it is a significant source of funding (the combine NHMRC schemes have about twice as much money in them as the ARC schemes combined). It is also possible in the NHMRC grants for a CI to ask for their own salary to be funded, which one cannot do in the ARC schemes.
