All UWA staff responsible for the supervision or management of other staff are invited to participate in this workshop.

This workshop will explore the strategies that managers may employ in ensuring staff are effectively assisted to achieve their best. Issues relating to induction programmes, performance management, PDR reviews and development of staff will be explored.

Participants will be encouraged to bring examples of their current practices to share. The group will contribute to a best practice blueprint for dissemination across all participants.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • identify special needs that high performers have and how meeting these needs may affect the manager;
  • discuss strategies that will lead to a more effective management of high performers.

This workshop will comprise short information components followed by activities, discussions or case studies. The focus will be on participant interaction and interchange.
