The second round of nominations for the Faculty Teaching and Learning Awards is now open and will close on 31 October. The application process is entirely online and is available on the website .

As well as nominations from students, we would like to see staff and Schools nominating their own outstanding teachers, supervisors and projects. Please consider peer nomination or self-nomination, especially in the following categories:

  • Individual Teaching (Early Career)
  • Project that Enhances Learning
  • Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning

These awards will also flow into the University awards for excellence in teaching and learning and to UWA's nominations to the Australian Learning and Teaching Council for its annual Awards.

At its meeting on 6 August 2009, the UWA Teaching and Learning Committee endorsed a proposal from the UWA ALTC Selection Committee to amend and improve the process for the Faculty Teaching Awards and its link with the central process.

The points of particular interest for FECM are:

  1. Clear alignments to the ALTC criteria for all faculty nominees to the ALTC Selection Committee (given that Research Supervision is not recognised as a category by ALTC, the nominees for this category will be given the option of addressing criteria from Teaching Excellence or Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning, as appropriate for their particular contribution)
  2. An extended timeline for the submission of Faculty nominations to UWA ALTC Selection Committee (until 31st May)
  3. Aligning the process of selecting Faculty Awards winners with the year of the Award (from now on the year of the Faculty Awards will correspond with the year the winners are selected and announced at the UWA Teaching Awards Ceremony).

The Faculty Teaching and Learning Awards guidelines, selection criteria and submission requirements can be found on the Teaching Awards website .
