The Faculty is delighted to announce that the School of Mechanical Engineering is hosting an Australian Government Endeavour Award Holder, Alireza Ghasemi, who joined us this week.

The Endeavour Award is an Australian Government's internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia-Pacific region to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia.

Alireza Ghasemi has just completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering at École Polytechnique of Montréal - Canada. He received his BSc in Industrial and System Engineering from the Isfahan University of Technology in 1997.

Two years later he was awarded his first MSc from the Sharif University of Technology. He has received his second MSc in Industrial Engineering from École Polytechnique of Montréal - Canada in 2005.

During his time in UWA, Alireza will be working in the area of optimal strategies for condition-based maintenance and prognostics in collaboration with one of major mining organisations.

Alireza will be joining us for 6 months.
