This public forum is one of the major events the WA Division of Engineers Australia is holding during Australian Engineering Week (1-9 August 2009) to provide public promotion of the value of engineering and to encourage young people to consider a career in engineering.

Rather than take a particular stand, the forum will present speakers who are experts in their fields and able to provide factual information and educated opinion to a non-technical audience.

The Minister for Energy Hon Peter Collier MLC will open the forum and the MC for the evening is Doug Aberle, Managing Director, Western Power.

Three speakers will make presentations in the areas of Coal, Gas and Renewable Energy:

• Renewables - Barry Lake, Senior Principal Consultant, WorleyParsons;
• Coal - Charles Martelli, General Manager Marketing, Griffin Energy;
• Gas - Jason Waters, General Manager Trading and Fuels, Verve Energy.

Everyone is invited to attend this public forum and to support the promotion of engineering in our community.
