What Difference Does Obama Make?, The Global Financial Crisis, and Astronomy in the 21st Century with the Square Kilometre Array - these are just some of the compelling topics of free lectures to be enjoyed by visitors to The University of Western Australia's annual Open Day.

Speakers on Sunday 9 August, organised to showcase the State's oldest University and provide information for prospective students and families, hail from a range of disciplines.

The timetable for the lectures is:

  • 11.15 - 12 noon - Business School Winthrop Professors Ken Clements ( Head of Economics) and Raymond da Silva Rosa (Head of Accounting and Finance, Director of the WA Centre for Capital Markets Research), The Global Financial Crisis, Wesfarmers Lecture Theatre, New Business School, Hackett Entrance 4.
  • 12.15 - 1pm - Professor Peter Quinn , Astronomy in the 21st Century with the Square Kilometre Array, University Club Auditorium, Hackett Entrance 1.
  • 1.15pm - 2pm - UWA Professorial Fellow and former leader of the Opposition, Kim Beazley , What Difference Does Obama Make?, Webb Lecture Theatre, Geography Building, Fairway Entrance 1.
