The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is calling for applications under the Centres of Research Excellence scheme. This scheme replaces the Centres for Clinical Research Excellence scheme and the Capacity Building Grants in Population Health and Health Services Research scheme.

Applications are sought from teams of researchers to pursue innovative, high quality collaborative research activities in the following priority areas:

  • Clinical Research
  • Research into Asbestos Related Diseases
  • Population Health Research
  • Electromagnetic Energy Research
  • Health Services Research

The Centres of Research Excellence will build capacity, support research that will lead to improved community health outcomes, and ensure effective translation of research outcomes primarily into practice.

The internal closing date is 28 August 2009 .

Submission Process:

All applications must be submitted by the internal closing date, and as per the following:

  • Submit by the internal closing date one signed hard copy of the entire application together with a completed, signed Application Cover Sheet (Gold Form) .
  • Once feedback has been provided:
  • Electronically submit the application via the NHMRC's Research Grants Management System.
