UWA has been awarded eight national Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.

The winners will be presented with their awards on Friday, 14 August, at the Holmes a Court Gallery in East Perth

The citations recognise and reward the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning in higher education.

The University of Western Australia is ranked first in WA in the number of citations our staff have been awarded, and is ranked equal second across Australia.

Our winners are:
•    Ms Barbara Black
•    Winthrop Professor Kenneth W Clements
•    Winthrop Professor Stephen Houghton
•    Associate Professor Prudence Manners
•    Winthrop Professor Neil Morgan
•    Winthrop Professor Tom O'Donoghue
•    Winthrop Professor David Plowman
•    Mrs Kerry Smith

Winners of the 2009 ALTC Awards for the other two categories - Awards for Teaching Excellence and Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning - will be announced in late October.

Vice-Chancellor Alan Robson is encouraging staff to consider nominating individuals for UWA's
faculty-based awards
to recognise outstanding contributions to the student learning experience.

Nominations for these awards close on 31 October.

These faculty awards and nominations from other sections of the University help to shape UWA's nominations to the Australian Learning and Teaching Council for national awards next year.
