Scientists, who want to improve their effectiveness when interviewed by the media, are invited to participate in this Media Skills workshop .

The topics of the workshop will include:
1) what makes a media-friendly story,
2) tailoring messages to increase impact,
3) preparing for an interview

Participants will be interviewed by an experienced journalist and receive feedback on their interviews.

Past participants include staff and students from Western Power, the Future Farm Industry CRC, Scitech Discovery Centre, Department of Health, Decisions and Designs, Pty Ltd, UWA Mechanical Engineering, UWA Business School and Department of Fisheries.

The details of the workshop are as follows:

Subject: Media Skills workshop with Geraldine Mellet and Nancy Longnecker
Date: 9am to 5pm on Monday 29 June and Friday 3 July
Venue: UWA Crawley Campus; Centre for Learning Technology; ground floor of Physics building; entry via ramp between Geology and Physics
Cost: $600, inclusive of tuition, workshop materials, lunches and morning and afternoon teas.
