The Mid-Year round of Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) scholarship applications are now open from Tuesday 2 June and will close on Friday, 17 July 2009.

Applications are open for Australian Postgraduate Awards (APAs), UWA Top-Up Scholarships and Indigenous Top-Up Scholarships, for commencement in Semester 2, 2009.

The purpose of these scholarships is to support graduate research training by enabling students of exceptional research promise to undertake a higher degree by research at the University of Western Australia.

This round is for PhD and Masters by Research students for commencement in Semester 2 2009. The Mid-Year round is particularly aimed at students who have recently completed Honours degrees and other qualifications, and who are keen to commence research this year, preferably by 28th August, but no later than 27th November 2009.

Indigenous Postgraduate Supplementary Scholarships valued at $10,000 per annum may be awarded to recipients of APA who identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and who are recognised as such by the community with which they associate. The supplementary scholarships are awarded for the duration of the primary scholarship, up to a maximum of three and a half years.

Eligible applicants may also apply for the Centre for Mining, Energy & Natural Resources Law Scholarship in the Mid Year Round.
