UWA will host a major international conference on 8-10 November 2009.
The IN THE ZONE conference will focus on the geopolitical advantages enjoyed by Western Australia in its proximity and shared time zone with Australia's key trading partners in China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, India and South East Asia.

The conference will address national and global public policy issues as they relate to Perth's unique geography and role as a supplier of natural resources to this economic community, a zone that represents more than 60 per cent of world population and promises to be the main centre of economic growth in the century.

Key conference themes will include the causes and consequences of the global financial and economic crisis, Australia's role in encouraging a collaborative and sustainable response, and strategies to harness opportunities presented by the dynamic geopolitical and economic environment.

The conference is a unique opportunity to bring together business and thought leaders from across the region. This will be an excellent occasion for UWA staff to engage with and build international networks.
