The University of Western Australia will participate in the global premier of renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand's new film "Home" on June 5, 2009, World Environment Day.

Scheduled for simultaneous worldwide release, the film will be shown in cinemas, on television, on DVD and on the Internet around the world, with the aim of enabling as many people as possible to watch the movie together.

Following on from his globally successful photographic exhibition "The Earth from Above", Yann Arthus-Bertrand's new film gives audiences the opportunity to observe the world's ecosystems from above and to fully appreciate the current state of our environment.

Filmed in 54 countries and 120 locations, this exquisitely shot film is a non-profit initiative fostering protection of the environment. Producers will donate profits back into Yann Arthus-Bertrand's association, GoodPlanet.org.

The screening at UWA is sponsored by Alliance Française de Perth and the Institute of Advanced Studies at UWA. The film will be followed by a question and answer session with Dr Karl-Heinz Wyrwoll, a leading researcher in climate and environmental change from the School of Earth and Environment at The University of Western Australia.

The screening is free and the public is encouraged to attend. An RSVP is essential to secure a place, by contacting Alliance Française de Perth on [email protected] or 9386 7921.
