As a part of Teaching Month 2009, UWA students would like to teach all lecturers and tutors a lesson!

Staff and students interactive sports event will take place on Friday 29th of May and it will include the following activities:

1) Sporting Electives:

  • 5-a-side soccer - For those who enjoy a bit of physical activity. Have members of the UWA soccer team help you develop and practice your skills by organising you into teams to play some vigorous rounds of 5-a-side soccer. You'll definitely need your shorts, t-shirts and joggers for this puffing good time!
  • Ultimate Golf - For those interested in learning a new skill. Have the members of the UWA Ultimate Frisbee team show you the different ways of throwing a Frisbee. After a bit of practice, you'll be able to hone your new found skills enjoying a relaxing game of Ultimate Golf.
  • Soft Golf - For those who would like to improve their golf swing. Have the members of the UWA Golf team offer you some coaching tips on how to improve your golf swing. Using specially designed soft golf balls, you can have a walking and whacking good time playing mini golf if you choose this one.
  • Bocce - For those who like a bit of social interaction with their sport. Come along and learn how to play Bocchi a fun game for everyone. If you enjoy being outside and a bit of social competition and banter minus the sweat and puff then this one is for you!
  • Juggling - For those who are interested in physical well-being through unconventional physical activity. Let members of the UWA jugglers help you feel the confidence and enjoyment that comes with learning the three ball basic pattern of juggling.
  • Chess - For those interested in increases their cognitive skills in a friendly competitive environment. Come along if you are interested in seeing and making some interesting moves.

2) Novelty Electives:

  • Egg and Spoon - For the sure and steady. Join in this one to make sure the staff don't end up with egg on their faces by getting it over the line first.
  • Egg Toss - This one's for the tossers with soft hands and a good eye. How far can you throw your egg without cracking up? May need a clean-up after cleaning up the students if you do this one.
  • Skipping - It's just a hop, skip and a jump. Put your hand up if you'd like to put your foot down as the rope goes round while beating the student to the other end
  • Tunnel Ball - For those who don't mind bending a little. Nominate to be part of the staff team and take on the students. Show them that there's light and speed at the end of staff tunnel.
  • Sack Race - This one's in the bag. For those who would like to put the ‘ups' and ‘downs' of life to good use.
