A former Vice-President of Uganda until 2003, Dr Speciosa Wandira, will deliver a lecture entitled:  "Micro Finance's Role in Ending World Hunger" at The University of Western Australia next week.

When she was elected in 1994, Dr Wandira was the first woman in Africa to hold this position.  She is on the Global Board of Directors for The Hunger Project and is considered one of the most influential and inspiring women leaders in the world.

Dr Wandira was born in the Inganga District in Eastern Uganda.  She has four children and has adopted several more from disadvantaged families in various parts of Uganda.  A medical doctor by profession, she studied at Makerere University in Kampala.

WHAT: Public Lecture - "Micro Finance's Role in Ending World Hunger".

WHEN: Thursday, 14 May, 5.30pm for 6pm start.

WHERE: UWA Business School Wesfarmers Lecture Theatre.  The nearest car park is P9 off Hackett Drive Entrance 4.

This lecture is free and open to the public.
