The Faculty wishes to offer our congratulations to Dr Grazyna Stachowiak on her promotion to Associate Professor.

Currently Dr Grazyna Stachowiak is a lecturer in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Grazyna graduated from the Poznan Technical University in Poland in 1980. In 2007 she was awarded a PhD from the Tohoku University in Japan.

Grazyna's current research interest, in general, is directed towards understanding and explaining phenomena associated with tribological behaviour of advanced materials, advanced coatings and analysis of wear particle morphology. Her work is focused on studying wear processes of materials at ambient and elevated temperatures and in particular finding ways of reducing wear of slurry pumps and the effects of particle shape on abrasion. Her other area of interest is corrosion, in particular, the synergism between corrosion and abrasion.

Grazyna has published about 30 journal and conference papers dealing mainly with wear problems and is a co-author of one book and three book chapters.
