Visitors to this year's Perth Sun Fair, to be held on Sunday April 5, 2009, can learn how to make significant savings on energy costs.

More than 80 exhibitors ranging from individuals to businesses, not-for-profit and government organisations will showcase sustainable living concepts and technology at the annual event, to be held on the Oak Lawn at The University of Western Australia.

The Sun Fair aims to share information and experiences with community members so they can return to their homes armed with the knowledge they can make a difference to the future of the planet and its living systems.

This year's event, the biggest to date, will include information on renewable energy, energy efficiency, environment conservation and natural living, with stalls, interactive working models, seminars and activities to run throughout the day, as well as children's activities and entertainment.

Renewable energy company Solar Shop has donated a 25 panel grid connected solar system, valued at $20,365, as the door prize while shade technology company SKYShades will demonstrate a market umbrella that turns solar energy into clean, green electricity. Golfer Greg Norman is a director and shareholder of SKYShades.

The event will include what's believed to be the biggest display in WA of electric cars, as well as students from the Willetton Senior High School Academic Talent Program demonstrating their solar car project.

Other exhibits will feature the latest technology in composting toilets, reusable nappies and passive solar energy efficient house design.

More than 15,000 people are expected to visit the Perth Sun Fair, which runs from 9am to 5pm. For more details on Sun Fair events, visit https://www.perthsunfair.com.au/
