The Australian Academy of Science is inviting applications from Australian professional scientists to visit Europe, North America and South East Asia in 2010, to collaborate with researchers in those countries.  This scheme is supported by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research’s International Science Linkages – Science Academies Program.

Success in these smaller grants can help support future applications for the larger grants in DIISR’s International Science Linkages* program as well as other grant schemes involving international collaboration and ARC schemes.
Applicants must propose a collaborative research project, or specific activity, which has been developed in consultation with host scientists. The Duration of the visits must be 14 to 40 days.  Travel and daily living allowances are covered.
Success rates last year:

Europe:  44 out of 84 applicants successful
North America:  46 out of 73 applicants successful
Asia:   27 out of 32 applicants successful

Internal deadline: 1st May 2009
External deadline: 15th May 2009

*  NB. There will be no Competitive Grants funding through DIISR ISL in 2009.  The Aus-China fund is open currently.  We are awaiting an announcement on the other ISL components.
