A group of Year 11 students from Raffles Junior College in Singapore got a good taste of WA – and UWA – during their short-term study program in November-December last year.

The visit was also successful in broadening the horizons of the 38 students to the possibility of studying science or technology at UWA. Half of the students indicated they would consider study here either as an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

The program for their visit included lectures, activities, demonstrations, laboratory tours, sightseeing visits, a science communication activity and a study skills seminar.
Highlights included the physics hands-on activity, the physics astronomy lecture presented by Professor Peter Quinn, the psychology activity presented by Professor Vance Locke, the day trip to the Gravity Discovery Centre, and the half-day tour of Caversham Wildlife Park.
