Professor Caroline Baillie has been appointed as UWA’s first Chair of Engineering Education. Professor Baillie's most recent position was Professor and Dupont Canada Chair in Engineering Education Research and Development, Faculty of Applied Science, Queens University, Ontario, Canada. She has a PhD from the University of Surrey in Materials Science and Engineering.

Professor Baillie has a distinguished research profile in Engineering and Engineering Education. Her main research areas are:

Science and Engineering Knowledge development
Education, Engineering and Social Justice

She has a strong background in Research, Practice and Development; Teaching and Supervision;  Education Development; Science and Society/Women in Science, Technology and Engineering; and Theatre.

The Chair of Engineering Education will play a strategic role in the continued enhancement of student engagement, development of a sense of community within the student population, management of an increasingly diverse student population, optimising undergraduate professional practicum experiences and the alignment of engineering curriculum to graduate attributes for professional engineers.

The Faculty is delighted to welcome Professor Baillie who who adds not only experience and expertise, but a range of innovative ideas and diverse skills to our team.  Professor Baillie commences her appointment in June 2009.
