Focus on Sessional Staff

The key project of the Faculty CATLyst this year is to produce and trial a Faculty specific guide to support sessional staff.  Given the increasing proportion of teaching that is conducted by sessional teachers, this is an area of significant importance.

The quality of the student experience depends greatly on the preparedness and support provided to sessional staff to perform their teaching duties. The starting point for this support is the RED (recognition, enhancement, development) project, and its recently released report, funded by ALTC.

Unit Coordinators as Leaders

The CATLyst network is trialling a web based 360° feedback tool developed as a follow up to a previous ALTC project about the development of Academic Leadership in Academic Coordinators.  One of the outcomes of this earlier grant was the development of the Academic Leadership survey – a web based 360° feedback tool. The CATLysts will be trialling this tool, and then offer this structured academic leadership development programme to any interested or aspiring unit coordinators.
